The yard

Karstensen Shipyard, based in Skagen on the northern tip of Denmark, has been building commercial fishing vessels and specialised commercial ships for nearly a century. The yard's reputation among North-European fishing fleets is built on long vessel-service lives, vessels that work hard for decades. Building hulls into that supply chain means meeting an exacting build standard.

Our scope

Hull-construction work delivered as a sub-contractor partner, steel work, welding to IACS-affiliated certification, structural assembly. Welder qualifications managed against the relevant classification society for each programme. Documentation handed over in the format the yard's own QA team operates with.

Strategic value

The Karstensen engagement signals to other Northern European fishing-yard customers that our welding discipline is acceptable in that market segment. It is a different vessel class than AMELS, fishing and commercial work has its own classification and operational logic, but the underlying welding standard is the same.
