Roxtec sealing systems are the standard reference for fire-, gas-, water- and pressure-tight cable and pipe penetrations on ships, offshore platforms and industrial buildings. The hardware itself is well-known. The installation is what determines whether the seal actually performs at acceptance, and whether the documentation survives a class survey.

Why Roxtec is the marine reference

Cable transits on classed vessels have to maintain fire integrity through bulkheads, water-tightness in compartmentation and pressure-tightness in specific zones. Roxtec's modular sealing system, rubber modules around individual cables, compressed by a metal frame, was designed for that exact requirement set, and it has become the de-facto standard for newbuild ships in Northern Europe.

Industrial sites have followed the same path. Where a building or process zone needs certified penetration sealing, for fire compartmentation, EX-zone separation or environmental control, Roxtec is again the typical specification.

What certified installation requires

Installation looks straightforward, until you read the acceptance criteria. Module selection has to match cable diameter exactly. Stayplate placement matters. Frame compression has to be applied to the manufacturer's spec. Documentation has to record which transit was installed at which location with which modules.

Roxtec operates a training and certification programme for installers. Certified personnel know the installation rules, the documentation requirements and the common failure modes. An uncertified install that "looks fine" can still fail an acceptance test and require complete redo, at far higher cost than getting it right the first time.

Where RS Marine installs Roxtec

  • On classed vessels at DAMEN Shipyards Gdynia and partner yards
  • On Muehlhan Polska programmes at Polish and German yards
  • On industrial sites where fire-compartmentation transits are part of the electrical scope

Our crews on Roxtec scope are trained to the manufacturer's installation standard, and the inspection package we hand over is designed to be accepted on first review.
